COMMUNITY DIALOGUE HELD IN BGR

Community dialogue sessions were held from May 26 to 30, 2025 in Dobi, Bullen Woreda in the Benishangul-Gumuz Region as part of the project”Supporting Inclusive Dialogue and Gender- Sensitive Peacebuilding and Reconciliation in BGR, Ethiopia.” The initiative was led by CDRC.

The sessions brought together 55 participants, including former conflict actors and peace advocates. The dialogues aimed to foster mutual understanding and promote peaceful coexistence.

By creating a space for open, inclusive conversation, the initiative sought to build trust and support long-term reconciliation across the region.

DIALOGUE FACILITATION TRAINING HELD

Thirty-four community peacebuilders from Wonbera, Dibate, Guba, and Mandura woredas in Benishangul-Gumuz Region attended a Dialogue Facilitation Training organized by CDRC from May 12–16, 2025, in Gilgel Beles Town.
The training prepared them to lead the second round of community dialogues in Metekel, following a successful first round. Core-group members with advanced training also took part.
Led by local trainers who had completed a Training-of-Trainers program, the sessions built skills for guiding peaceful community discussions. The initiative supported local peacebuilding and community-led conflict resolution.

CDRC Executive Director Dr. Abdeta Dribssa Beyene delivered a keynote at the 14th China-Africa Think Tanks Forum on May 20, 2025, in Kunming, China. The forum, themed “China-Africa Governance Experience Exchanges and Chinese Modernization,” brought together over 100 participants from China and 50+ African countries. Dr. Abdeta emphasized mutual learning and local ownership in development, citing China’s poverty reduction success. He proposed a China-Africa Governance Innovation Center to co-develop inclusive policies. The forum concluded with the Kunming Declaration, reaffirming a shared commitment to collaborative governance and modernization. His participation reflects Ethiopia’s active role in shaping inclusive, sustainable development models.
