The Centre for Dialogue, Research and Cooperation (CDRC) is an Ethiopia-based, non-profit, and independent public policy think tank committed to rigorous research and analysis. It is the successor of the Institute for Advanced Research (IAR) and was established under a Host Country Agreement with the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, signed on January 16, 2012. CDRC’s strategic objectives include advancing development, deepening democracy, and contributing to the creation of an environment conducive to peace and security in the Horn of Africa and Africa at large. The Centre promotes knowledge generation and critical analysis of situations and processes from an African perspective. In pursuit of these goals, CDRC focuses on key issues such as institution building, democratic governance, the rule of law, peace and security, as well as regional cooperation and integration. The Centre collaborates with governments, professional associations, academic and research institutions, high-value private sector entities, civil society organizations, international organizations, and foundations.

As the Board of Trustees, we are privileged to work alongside a dedicated team committed to advancing dialogue, research, and cooperation in pursuit of sustainable socio-economic development, democracy, good governance, and peace and security in the Horn of Africa.
Vision, Mission and Core Values
CDRC aspires to be one of the leading centers of excellence in the IGAD region by 2030,
presenting African perspectives on peace and security, governance, the political economy of
development, and regional integration.
CDRC’s mission is to deliver independent and rigorous research and analysis on foreign policy,
peace and security, governance, and the political economy of hunger and poverty in Ethiopia and
the broader region. It provides a platform for dialogue among stakeholders with diverse
viewpoints to foster mutual understanding. CDRC shares its research and thematic studies
through the CDRC Digest and other flagship publications.
