Political & Security Issues This area explores key challenges and opportunities related to Ethiopia’s political and security landscape. Research themes include:
1. Peace and security in the Horn of Africa and the role of external actors
2. Boarders, communities and regional disputes
3. The future of peacekeeping
4. National dialogue and institution building
5. Democratic governance and federalism
6. Nile water cooperation
7. Radicalization and terrorism

Ethiopia’s Foreign Policy

Research Cluster: Multilateralism & Global Dynamics This cluster focuses on Ethiopia’s role within multilateral settings and global geopolitical shifts. Themes include:
1. Ethiopia’s position in the Horn of Africa, the Gulf, and Red Sea regions
2. Cooperation with IGAD, the African Union (AU), and the United Nations (UN)
3. Great power rivalry and the emerging influence of middle powers

Multilateral Diplomacy & Regional Relations

Research Cluster: Political Economy & Regional Integration This area addresses socio-economic development and regional integration. Thematic research covers:
1. Food security and agricultural modernization
